SDC is proud to announce an exciting partnership and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), focused on creating better opportunities for young people across Gauteng.
This collaboration is driven by a shared commitment to tackling youth unemployment and expanding access to skills development programmes. With youth unemployment remaining one of South Africa’s most pressing challenges, partnerships like these are essential in connecting young people to meaningful opportunities that can change the trajectory of their lives.
One of the key benefits of the partnership is access to more than 50 City of Johannesburg community halls across Gauteng. These venues will be used to host learner recruitment drives, allowing SDC to reach communities that may not otherwise have access to information about learnerships, skills development programmes, and how to prepare for and excel in work readiness.
Through this initiative, young people will have access to opportunities across a wide range of fields, including Cyber Security, Project Management, Insurance, Wealth Management, Supply Chain, Marketing, Real Estate, Training and Development, and many more. Most importantly, the partnership will strengthen support for persons with disabilities by increasing awareness of available opportunities and expanding access to recruitment and assessment services. As a turnkey skills development solutions provider, the Skills Development Corporation brings extensive experience in learner recruitment, placement, administration, and overall workplace readiness.
Together with the City of Johannesburg, we are confident that our shared goal of making a difference in the lives of Gauteng’s youth will move us forward. We will continue breaking down the barriers that often prevent young people from entering the workplace, particularly the challenge of gaining experience without prior employment opportunities.
Success will be measured not only through learner registrations and programme participation, but through the life-changing stories and testimonies of our alumni and the achievements of the young people who benefit from these skills opportunities.
This strategic partnership represents more than a collaboration between the Skills Development Corporation and the City of Johannesburg, it represents hope, empowerment, and a shared vision for a brighter future for South Africa’s youth.
Together, we are proving that through unity in development, we can be the difference.
